In three of the studies, patients on Mysimba lost around 3.7 to 5.7% of their body weight, compared to 1.3 to 1.9% with placebo.
Additionally, a higher proportion of Mysimba-treated patients achieved significant weight loss, with 28 to 42% achieving a 5% weight loss compared to 12 to 14% with placebo.
Furthermore, 13 to 22% of those taking Mysimba achieved at least a 10% reduction in weight, while only 5 to 6% of placebo-treated patients did so.
In another research with more intensive counseling, the weight loss was greater overall: 8.1% with Mysimba compared to 4.9% with placebo.
Here, 46% and 30% of Mysimba-treated patients achieved 5% and 10% weight reductions respectively, compared to 34% and 17% respectively with placebo.
Overall, the effectiveness of Mysimba over placebo was consistent across different methods of analysis, with greater benefits observed in patients who completed 56 weeks of treatment or who had already lost at least 5% of their original body weight by 4 months into the study. Sources
