Eumovate Cream & Ointment

Eumovate cream and ointment is a prescription-only steroid medication, primarily used to treat severe forms of inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, and dermatitis.

Eumovate provides quick relief from redness, itchiness, and swelling, and it is used once or twice daily by applying it directly to the affected areas.

Eumovate contains an active ingredient known as Clobetasone butyrate 0.05%. It helps treat certain skin conditions such as contact dermatitis, seborrhoeic dermatitis, eczema, and psoriasis.

Eumovate is highly effective in reducing inflammation and relieving symptoms such as redness and itching associated with skin conditions.

Eumovate cream:

• Used to treat moist and weeping skin
• Made with thin, watery ingredients

Eumovate ointment:

• Used to treat dry, flaky, or scaly skin
• Made with greasy and thicker ingredients

When your skin is exposed to an allergen, your immune system responds by releasing inflammatory chemicals that trigger your blood vessels to widen, which causes itching, swelling, and discomfort.

When you apply Eumovate cream or ointment, the active ingredient clobetasone is absorbed into the skin cells. It stops the release of large quantities of inflammatory chemicals by the immune system.

This reduces swelling, itching, redness, and further scratching.

• Wash your hands before applying Eumovate to the area of treatment
• Gently apply a thin layer of Eumovate on the affected area and rub it gently until it is fully absorbed
• Clean your hands after applying the medicine
• Apply 1 or 2 times a day as instructed by your doctor.

Avoid using Eumovate cream and ointment on naked or infected areas of your skin.

Avoid using Eumovate on your facial skin.

If you accidentally apply the medicine to your eyes, nose, or mouth, rinse with lots of cold water.

Avoid using tight bandages to cover the area of treatment. Tight dressing increases the amount of Eumovate absorbed, therefore increasing side effects.

Stop the treatment if the area of treatment gets infected after treating it with Eumovate cream

• DO NOT Eumovate around naked flames
• Do not apply the medicine to children under the age of 1
• Do not use Eumovate cream or ointment longer than the recommended time
• Do not use Eumovate if you are allergic to Eumovate ingredients

Both creams belong to the same group of medicines, corticosteroids, which are used to treat inflammation. Eumovate is a moderate potency steroid cream compared to hydrocortisone cream, which is a mild treatment, for less severe forms of eczema and dermatitis. The doctor can recommend Eumovate cream after taking a history and visual examination.

Betnovate cream and ointment are effective within 24 hours compared to Eumovate, which is effective after weeks or a few days. Betnovate cream is slightly stronger than Eumovate cream. Betnovate is recommended for adults 18 years and above due to its strong reaction.
