Fluconazole capsules are an antifungal medication that is used to kill the fungus that causes thrush. It is a single dose capsule, after the one capsule, symptoms of thrush should start to clear up. Fluconazole kills the fungus that causes thrush by creating holes in the fungal membranes, which makes it impossible for them to reproduce, causing them to die. After taking fluconazole, individuals will start to feel more comfortable within a couple of days, with the thrush completely clearing up within 7 days.
You should speak to a doctor or pharmacist before taking Fluconazole if you have a problem with your heart, kidneys or liver, you have a blood disorder or have abnormal blood levels of potassium, magnesium or calcium.
Do not take Fluconazole without a prescription from your doctor if you or your child is under 16 years old.
