For hay fever and allergic rhinitis, the typical Avamys nasal spray dose is "two sprays into each nostril once daily, reduced to one spray into each nostril once control is achieved."

The goal is to manage symptoms with the lowest effective dose. Most people use Avamys once a day, often in the morning, unless your prescriber advises otherwise.

Each spray contains 27.5mcg. Two sprays into each nostril once daily equals 110mcg total per day.

Avoid exceeding the recommended dose. Avamys is a steroid nasal spray, and excessive use could lead to side effects or nostril irritation. Occasional accidental overuse might not be harmful, but continuous excessive use won't improve your condition.

If symptoms are severe, the doctor might temporarily increase the dose to 2 sprays per nostril daily, then reduce it.

Avamys Nasal Spray Preparations

Prepare Avamys before the first use to make sure you get the correct dose and a fine mist:

Preparing Avamys:

1. Shake the bottle well.
2. Squeeze both sides to uncap it.
3. Hold upright, nozzle away from you.
4. Firmly press the button several times (usually 4-6) until a fine mist appears.

Using Avamys:

1. Shake the bottle well and remove the cap.
2. Breathe out from your nose to clear it.
3. Insert the nozzle into one nostril and aim slightly away from the centre of your nose.
4. Breathe in gently, press the button, and inhale the mist.
5. Remove the nozzle, breathe out through the mouth.
6. For two sprays in each nostril, repeat steps 3-5.
7. Repeat for the other nostril.
8. Put the cap back on.
