Hezkue Summary

Hezkue is a prescription-only (POM) oral sildenafil spray with a mint flavour for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED). It contains the same active substance as branded Viagra (sildenafil), but is delivered as an oromucosal mouth spray instead of a tablet.

The usual starting dose is 50 mg (4 pumps) about an hour before sex. You can adjust to 25 mg (2 pumps) or 100 mg (8 pumps) on your prescribers  advice. Use once in 24 hours max.

How it’s different: Hezkue is absorbed through the lining of your mouth, so it can start working without going fully through the “tablet → stomach → liver” first-pass route. Food effect
Heavy meals can delay tablet onset. With the mouth spray, food has less impact, though the SmPC still notes that taking sildenafil with food may delay onset compared to the fasted state—so a lighter meal is sensible.

Hezkue Spray is a treatment for erectile dysfunction, belonging to a group of medicines called PDE5 inhibitors. Unlike tablets, Hezkue sildenafil spray is absorbed through the lining of your mouth and enters your bloodstream directly.

The most important thing to know is that Hezkue only works when you are sexually aroused. It does not create an erection on its own.

Hezkue comes as a metered spray: each spray = 12.5 mg sildenafil. Each full press of the Hezkue pump gives 12.5 mg of sildenafil. Most men are started on 4 presses (50 mg) before sexual activity.

Dose guide:

• 1 press = 12.5 mg
• 2 presses = 25 mg
• 4 presses = 50 mg (usual dose)
• 8 presses = 100 mg (maximum dose in 24 hours)

Your clinician will confirm the right dose for you. Never exceed 100 mg in a single day. Only use the number of presses your prescriber has advised. Do not take more than 8 presses (100 mg) in any 24-hour period.

Instructions for preparation of Hezkue oromucosal suspension (before and after use)

If you’ve been prescribed Hezkue: remember it’s for oral use only. Before taking your dose, prime the pump 3 times into tissue to make sure it’s working properly. Always use the pump supplied with the original pack.

Before you start

• Check your prescribed dose. One pump = 12.5 mg sildenafil.
• Common dosage: 2 pumps = 25 mg, 4 pumps = 50 mg (usual start), 8 pumps = 100 mg (max in 24 hours).

Step 1: Getting the Bottle Ready (Priming)

You must do this every single time you take a dose. Priming ensures the pump is ready and that you receive the full, correct amount of medicine.

1. Shake the bottle vigorously for around 20 seconds to mix the medicine.
2. Remove the child-resistant cap by pushing it down firmly and turning it anti-clockwise.
3. Attach Pump: Place the dosage pump onto the bottle, sliding the plastic tube into the liquid. Screw the pump clockwise until it's firmly attached.
4. Unlock: Turn the nozzle on the pump to the "open" position.
5. Prime: Point the nozzle away from you (and others) onto an absorbent material, like a paper towel/tissue. Press the pump down firmly 3 times. Discard the towel.
6. The pump is now primed and ready to deliver your dose.

Why prime every time? If you don't, you may receive a partial spray and a lower, less effective dose.

Step 2: Taking Your Dose

1. Tilt your head back slightly and open your mouth.
2. Point the nozzle onto your tongue.
3. Press the pump for the exact number of sprays your prescriber has told you to take (for example, 4 sprays for a 50mg dose).
4. Swallow the medicine straight away.

Important Safety Note: Hezkue is for oral use only. Never spray it up your nose or onto your skin.

Step 3: After You've Taken Your Dose

1. Lock: Turn the nozzle back to the "closed" position.
2. Remove: Unscrew the pump from the bottle (turning anti-clockwise).
3. Wash: Rinse the pump thoroughly under water.
4. Dry: Allow the pump to air dry completely before its next use.
5. Recap: Place the original child-proof cap back on the bottle and screw it on tightly.

Timing: When to Take It and How Long It Lasts

When to take it: You should take your Hezkue dose around 30 minutes to 1 hour before you plan to have sex.

How long to work: It begins to be absorbed very quickly (in as little as 5 minutes), but most men find it takes full effect within 30 minutes.

How long it lasts: When taken as prescribed, the effects of Hezkue can last for up to 5 hours. This doesn't mean you'll have an erection for 5 hours, but rather that the medicine will be effective in your system for that period, allowing for an erection to occur with sexual stimulation.

Do not use Hezkue if:

• You are allergic to sildenafil or any of the ingredients in Hezkue.
• You take nitrates or nitric oxide donors (for example GTN spray or tablets, isosorbide mononitrate, or “poppers” such as amyl nitrite).
• You use guanylate cyclase stimulators such as riociguat.
• Your doctor has told you that sexual activity is not safe for you because of a heart problem (for example, unstable angina or severe heart failure).
• You have ever lost vision in one eye because of a condition called NAION (non-arteritic anterior ischaemic optic neuropathy).
• You have severe liver disease.
• You have very low blood pressure (less than 90/50 mmHg).
• You have had a recent heart attack or stroke – your doctor must decide if this treatment is suitable.
• You have certain inherited eye diseases, such as retinitis pigmentosa.

Take special care and talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Hezkue if:

Heart and circulation

• You have heart disease, circulation problems, or multiple cardiovascular risk factors.
• Your doctor needs to check whether the drop in blood pressure from sildenafil, together with sexual activity, is safe for you.

Risk of a prolonged or painful erection (priapism)

• You have any penis shape or structural problem, such as angulation, Peyronie’s disease or cavernosal fibrosis.
• You have conditions that can make priapism more likely, such as sickle cell anaemia, multiple myeloma, or leukaemia.
• Seek urgent medical help if you get an erection lasting 4 hours or more.

Vision changes

If you notice a sudden change in vision or loss of sight, stop using Hezkue and get medical help immediately.
Other medicines

• Ritonavir: using Hezkue together with ritonavir (for HIV) is not recommended – your specialist must advise you.
• Alpha-blockers: if you take medicines for high blood pressure or prostate problems (alpha-blockers), there is a risk of dizziness or fainting on standing (postural hypotension).

Your prescriber may choose a lower starting dose and will advise you what to do if you feel light-headed.

Bleeding and stomach ulcers

• Sildenafil can affect how the blood clots.
• If you have a bleeding disorder or an active stomach/duodenal ulcer, Hezkue should only be used after a careful benefit–risk discussion with your doctor.

Use in women

• Hezkue is for men only and is not indicated for use in women.
