Pulmicort Turbohaler

Pulmicort Turbohaler is a daily preventer inhaler used to manage asthma. It belongs to the corticosteroid class and contains budesonide, which reduces inflammation in the airways.

Asthma is a long-term condition where the airways become inflamed and narrowed in response to triggers such as allergens, pollution or exercise. This can lead to symptoms such as shortness of breath, chest tightness, and nighttime coughing.

When used every day as prescribed, Pulmicort Turbohaler helps control airway inflammation and reduces the risk of asthma symptoms.

Pulmicort Turbohaler is used to treat asthma. It contains budesonide, a corticosteroid that reduces and prevents swelling and inflammation in the lungs.

Taken daily, it helps to:

• Prevent breathlessness and chest tightness
• Reduce night-time coughing
• Lower the risk of asthma attacks
• Keep the airways less sensitive to triggers

It should be used every day as prescribed to help prevent asthma symptoms. A separate reliever inhaler is used when symptoms occur to make breathing easier.

Pulmicort Turbohaler is a breath-activated, “no-push” dry powder inhaler. When you inhale through the mouthpiece, the medicine is delivered directly into the lungs.

It contains budesonide, a corticosteroid (steroid) that reduces inflammation and swelling in the airways to support long-term asthma control.

It comes as a small, hand-held device that is easy to carry and suitable for daily use.

Available as Pulmicort Turbohaler 100mcg, 200 mcg, and 400mcg.

Pulmicort Turbohaler is a breath-activated inhaler, meaning the medicine is released when you breathe in. Using the correct technique ensures you receive the full prescribed dose.

1. Remove the protective cap and hold the inhaler upright.
2. Twist the base fully in one direction, then back until it clicks.
3. Breathe out gently (away from the inhaler).
4. Place the mouthpiece in your mouth and breathe in deeply and forcefully.
5. Remove the inhaler and hold your breath for about 10 seconds.
6. Breathe out slowly. Repeat if prescribed.
7. Rinse your mouth with water after use.

If you are unsure how to use your inhaler, speak to your GP, asthma nurse or pharmacist.

When the dose indicator shows around 20 doses remaining, arrange your next prescription.
