Overview
NOTE: After selecting this product, you will need to complete a short assessment, so we can make sure this medication is suitable for you.
Omeprazole is the active ingredient in Pyrocalm, which is a proton pump inhibitor used to treat indigestion, heartburn and excess stomach acid in acid reflux. Proton pump inhibitors work by blocking the production of stomach acid made by glands in the lining of your stomach, resulting in a reduction in symptoms associated with acid reflux.

FAQ
How long does Pyrocalm take to work?
You should start to feel symptoms improve within two to three days. However, for some patients the medication can take a bit longer to become fully effective, so you could have some symptoms for up to four weeks after starting the medication, but this is rare.
How long does Pyrocalm last?
Pyrocalm offers 24-hours of protection against the symptoms of acid reflux. What if I take too much? If you accidentally exceed the recommended dose by 1 or 2 extra doses, it is unlikely to cause any problems. If you start to experience flushed skin, blurred vision, a quicker heartbeat or feeling sweaty, sleepy or confused, consult your doctor.
Can I take Pyrocalm with alcohol?
Yes, it is safe to drink alcohol when taking pyrocalm. Alcohol does not affect the medication. However, if you suffer from dizziness when taking pyrocalm, alcohol will make this worse, therefore alcohol should be avoided in this case.
What is the difference between Omeprazole and Pyrocalm?
Both medications contain omeprazole as the active ingredient, so medically speaking there is nothing different as both work in the same way and both contain the same active ingredient, omeprazole. The main difference is that pyrocalm can be bought over the counter at a pharmacy, whereas omeprazole can only be provided if you have a prescription for it.
